Laser Liposuction & Traditional Liposuction
Liposuction is the mechanical method of fat removal. When there is excess fat, it tends to accumulate in specific areas of the face, neck, chest, arms, lower and upper abdomen, hips, outer thighs, inner thighs, knees and even the ankles. As time passes, it does become more difficult to re-distribute or eliminate such fatty deposits. Our center for Liposuction in Coral Gables provides multiple options to remove fat and recontour those fatty areas of the body.
The essence of liposuction is the art of body-sculpting where the goal is a pleasing, firm and leaner appearance. A more pleasing and firm appearance is achieved today with laser liposuction. As we develop and better Liposuction in Coral Gables and new methods have been developed here and throughout the U.S. you will see procedures like the ones described below which result in even less recovery time and less discomfort than older methods.
Laser Liposuction and Lifting the Hips and Buttock
These often utilize liposuction or liposhifting to sculpt the hips and buttocks into a more shapely form. In addition, fat grafting can enhance the shape and contour of your buttocks.

Laser Liposuction and Lifting the Arms
This is done to correct and rejuvenate upper arms that have hanging or loose skin. Loose arm skin is part of the natural aging process or develops after weight gain and loss. Liposculpture with lasers, skin removal, or a combination of techniques may be used to achieve the final result.
Lifting the Thighs with Laser Liposuction
Sculpting and elevating the hips, buttocks, inner and other thighs, and knees for a smother, more balanced overall contour. Sometimes the liposuction procedure can be combined with a tummy tuck to create the most harmonious shape of the torso and thighs. Shapely thighs depend on both the outer and inner thigh contours. The look should remain soft and round to be feminine but fat deposits must be reduced.
How is the Recovery Period After Laser Liposuction?
Each patient is unique. Your recovery time will depend upon the total treatment plan. You will have some swelling and bruising after the laser liposuction procedure, and may experience some discomfort and tightness for the first two weeks. We will prescribe medication to ease your discomfort. Any superficial stitches are removed within a week. You will need bandages and drains for a few days and will wear a liposuction support garment for your comfort and to speed recovery. We will closely monitor your progress from our Miami office throughout your recovery.
When Can I Return to Normal Activities After Liposuction?
Most of our patients are able to return to work in 2 to 3 weeks. If you were exercising before your liposuction surgery, you will be in the best condition to recover most rapidly. It will take a total of about 4 weeks to return to all normal activities and exercise. We will work on an individual treatment and recovery plan based on your surgery and needs.
Imagine a more Beautiful you……
Are there any side effects to laser liposuction?
Over the next few weeks, any bruising, swelling or tenderness will subside. You will, however, retain scars that are generally covered by most bathing suits.
How long will results last?
Unless you gain weight or become pregnant, you should enjoy your taut shapely figure for years to come. Your clothes will fit better and you’ll find increased confidence in your appearance. It is important to begin an exercise program to maintain your new look and to increase your health and fitness.

Note:
Only a licensed professional with the knowledge and skill required to achieve optimum results should perform liposuction or any form of plastic surgery.
What is the liposuction surgery like?
For most of our patients, we use local anesthesia with the tumescent liposuction infiltration technique to maximize results and promote a smooth recovery. Small volume of liposuction can usually be accomplished with sedation and is performed in an outpatient setting right from our Coral Gables Office and takes only 1 to 2 hours. Large volumes of liposuction may require more than one procedure, or may need to be done in the hospital. You will need to have a close friend or family member drive you to and from your appointment and care for you for the first 24 hours.
Here’s How the Liposuction Procedure Works:
-
At our initial consultation, we will perform a complete examination and take picture of the areas to be treated.
-
At treatment time, we infiltrate the fatty area with a solution of saline and a mild anesthetic formula that reduces bruising and enhances recovery.
-
This tumescent solution expands the fat compartments to ease fat removal.
-
A tiny puncture is made in your skin to insert the suction wand.
-
Using a small tubular wand, we carefully draw fat from beneath your skin with the help of a vacuum machine.
-
Moving the wand back and forth, we suction out unwanted fat, creating a more pleasing contour.
What is recovery like after liposuction?
After your liposuction surgery, the residual benefit of the anesthetic solution will help you with pain relief. Most patients are swollen and feel some discomfort. We encourage patients to walk within the first few days to speed healing. Light activity can be resumed within the first week and physical activity, within 10 days.
Depending on the areas treated, you will usually need to wear an elastic support for several weeks in healing.
